Anyone agree with me that the Champions League final kind of sucked?

Yes, I had trouble watching the entire thing.

The commentary in the 1st half was yawnsville. Jermaine Jenas and I think Steve McManaman. The second half saw a substitution of men with the mic’s - David Pleat was brought on, and JJ/SM hauled off. Not sure I have ever seen that before. But it did improve things slightly.

The matches leading up to the final were outstanding. It is just too bad that the final didn't live up to those expactations. I love Liverpool and their coach, but at one point in the game they only had a 68% passing accuracy. Spurs looked uninspired and content with a loss. The quality was poor especially when you are talking about a final. Maybe the 3 weeks off had something to do with it? There is a mixed martial arts phrase that iron sharpens iron. Perhaps not having a match during that time made both teams rusty.

I would say that Spurs were stunned by the early penalty and got off their game plan very early. Further it seemed they relied on Liverpool being overly concerned with Kane who was almost a non factor until late in the game. As a Spurs fan I was happy to have Kane back in the lineup but in retrospect would rather have seen him come on as a sub with Lucas starting...

The final was anticlimactic given the intense drama in the knockout matches. The teams' familiarity with each other probably didn't help matters. Not to mention the early goal in the first minute!

While lackluster the right team won. Same could be said about Liverpool playing Firmino over Origi as Tottenham about Kane. Both Moura and Origi were hot coming into the final but coaches played their starters and subbed them in. Might not have been the correct call but.. in the CL final the big names want to play.

i think two teams that had already ran out of gas being so long after the season ended. Why wait so long for the final. 2 weeks earlier would have been ok? No?

It’s timed for when all the leagues are over - they don’t know who is going to be in it in advance ...
